To participate in this tutorial you will need:

Python 2.5
- Download python-2.5.msi for Windows.
- Download from http://www.python.org/download/ for other operating systems.
A method of running Python in a shell,
such as cmd (Start->Run "cmd"), XTerm, or IDLE (Python Shell).The Livewires Package, Release 2.1, and the patch we have made.
- Download and install the package with the patch already included, or
- Download and install the Livewires Package, Release 2.1 and the patch file, or
- Download and install the Livewires Package, Release 2.1 direct from http://www.livewires.org.uk/python/lwpackage.html and the patch file.
A text editor, such as Notepad, KWrite, or IDLE (File->New Window).
A place to save your work.
In the final example in this tutorial you will need an image editor,
such GIMP, or Adobe Photoshop.
